CELEBRATION OF LIFE for GARY CLEMMONS
SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 2PM at HANDLEBAR J
The music community has lost a great musician and friend! Gary Clemmons passed away on February 25th. He was a member of the band Stumpwater Jak that had the Arizona radio hit, "Too Many Outlaws", and was the bandleader for Johnny Western. Gary was a dynamic personality. He was a champion of traditional country music. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame based in Phoenix and for many years worked with the Greater Arizona Country Music Association & Hall of Fame based in Prescott Valley. He served as it's board president from 2016 to 2018.
Gary was a Vietnam veteran. His exposure to Agent Orange caused many health problems. And like so many who serve in a combat zone, he battled PTSD. After a trip to the Vietnam Wall, he wrote a book, "War and Memories", Survival with a Measure of Success. Gary spent a great deal of his time after his visit to the Wall doing his best to give hope to other veterans and their families.
The Celebration of Life for Gary will be held from 2-5pm on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Handlebar J, 7116 E Becker Ln, Scottsdale.
Musicians, bring your instruments and jam with the band, or perform solo acoustic, duo, your full band, whatever you want to do...and everyone is invited to get up and share memories of Gary.
